After a suggestion by one of my early collectors, I began considering a way
to compose multiple objects into a single drawing. I felt that a contemporary still-life should break
with the tradition of cluttered compositions that feature a variety of beautiful objects arranged to
look disorganized, in favor of an ordered, controlled arrangement of similar objects more like what I
experience when shopping at the grocery store.
These drawings, like the single-object still lifes are done in silverpoint,
a medieval drawing medium that substitutes silver for graphite, with some very interesting results. |
